As I write this article, the trade deadline is just over 17 hours away, and another blockbuster trade has gone down. In a three team trade involving the Cavaliers, Wizards, and Clippers, the Cavaliers just may have gotten the player they needed to clinch a championship. In the trade, the Clippers recieved Drew Gooden from the Washington DC Wizards. Drew Gooden had just been traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Wizards a few days earlier. Headed to DC are the hard working Al Thornton from the Clippers and the unproven, unheralded rookie Emir Preldzic from the Cavaliers, aswell as Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who had played every game of his "good, not great" career for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the final team in this trade, gained the most from it. Two time All Star Antawn Jamison aswell as former first round draft pick Sebastian Telfair. Now that the Cavaliers have another All Star in Antawn Jamison and a solid player in Sebastian Telfair, I think that this is the year that the Cavaliers will finally win their first championship, which could make the face of the franchise, (And the best player in the NBA today) Lebron James feel more compelled to stay in Cleveland rather then become a free agent. (His contract expires at the end of this season.)
